A Locally Inspired Wedding at Jordan Pines Campground

September in Big Cottonwood Canyon is pure magic; golden light, crisp mountain air, and the first hints of fall color in the trees. Maggie and Dylan chose to celebrate their love with an intimate micro wedding at Jordan Pines Campground, surrounded by towering pines and their closest family and friends. Their day was relaxed, intentional, and beautifully aligned with their values.

The Location: Jordan Pines Campground in Big Cottonwood Canyon

Nestled in the heart of Big Cottonwood Canyon, Jordan Pines Campground is one of our favorite spots for a Utah mountain micro wedding. It offers the perfect balance of accessibility and natural beauty, with forested campsites and open meadows framed by mountain peaks.

Maggie and Dylan reserved a campsite that allowed their guests to gather comfortably while still feeling immersed in nature. Just steps away, a quiet meadow provided the ideal ceremony space; open, peaceful, and glowing in the soft September light. It was the kind of setting that doesn’t need much decoration because the mountains do all the work for you.

A Meadow Ceremony & Cozy Cocktail Hour

The couple exchanged vows in the grassy meadow beside the campground, surrounded by pines and the people who matter most to them. The intimacy of the space made the ceremony feel personal and heartfelt; less like a production, and more like a meaningful moment shared among loved ones.

Afterward, guests wandered back to the picnic tables at the campsite for a relaxed cocktail hour. Drinks were poured, laughter echoed through the trees, and everyone settled into the rhythm of the mountains. It was simple, unfussy, and completely true to who Maggie and Dylan are.

Local Vendors & Eco-Conscious Choices

From the very beginning, Maggie and Dylan were intentional about making their Big Cottonwood Canyon wedding as sustainable and community focused as possible.

  • Every vendor they hired lived locally in Utah.

  • Their florals were created using only locally grown, seasonal flowers, highlighting what was naturally in bloom.

  • They were mindful about waste and chose décor and supplies with sustainability in mind.

  • After cocktail hour, everyone gathered for dinner at a local Salt Lake vegan restaurant, Vertical Diner, continuing their commitment to supporting small businesses and making eco-conscious choices.

Their wedding was proof that a celebration can be both beautiful and responsible: rooted in nature, supportive of community, and deeply meaningful.
